Healthy Weight for Families

Healthy Weight for Families

West  Sussex

At START, we understand that weight loss isn’t as simple as just eating less and moving more. Real life comes with real challenges, and every family’s situation is different. That’s why we focus on breaking down the barriers that can make healthy living feel out of reach. Our approach is built around three key areas: nutrition, cooking, and physical activity. By focusing on these foundations, we work alongside families to explore simple, realistic changes that fit into everyday life—and that last. Our goal is to help create sustainable habits that support long-term health and well-being.

What do the sessions involve

The Healthy Weight for Families Programme is 1-1 and tailor made for each family. It supports families who are worried about their child/children’s weight and would like to become healthier. The family get a fun and friendly keyworker who will be with them every step of the way. The sessions are designed with the family to make sure that they can achieve their goals.

Cooking

Families will learn how to prepare simple, healthy and budget-friendly meals, whilst also mastering weekly meal planning.

Nutrition

Families will be taught the basics of nutrition so they can understand how different foods help/hinder the body.

They'll also cover a range of areas that are most beneficial to them, for example looking at snack and lunch box ideas, sneaky marketing on products that claim to be healthy and budgeting.

Physical Activity

Families will get to try all different varieties of physical activity which interest them, ranging from activities in the house to out and about or at the gym.
